Masergy SD-WAN Netify Review
Masergy offers advanced SD-WAN and integrated SASE solutions for mid-market global customers. The Masergy fully managed and co-managed SD-WAN service combines their global network backbone with AIOps and management tools. Masergy's future development focuses on cloud-based analytics, threat detection, response mechanisms, and edge computing capabilities. Although the Masergy brand and website is operational, we expect the Comcast brand to lead in 2024.
Masergy Test and Review
Masergy's approach to demonstrating their SD-WAN and SASE cybersecurity solutions was different to the other tests we conducted. Unlike the hands-on tests we usually perform, we were provided with a demonstration of their SD-WAN managed services platform. The demo allowed me to observe the Masergy's capabilities in a controlled environment, which was guided by Masergy's team.
This method of showcasing their SD-WAN and SASE solutions provided a perspective into how Masery services their managed services customer base. The demonstration highlighted the integration of network and security features, and the practical application of SASE capabilities in a multi-cloud environment. The Masergy demo also offered a closer look at how their AIOps system enhances network performance and security management, a feature that might not have been as evident in a hands-on test.
The demonstration format, while different from our typical hands-on approach, offered an understanding of the solution's operational dynamics. It allowed us to see the interoperability of various technologies within the Masergy ecosystem, including cloud firewalls, secure web gateways, and zero-trust network access.
However, it is important to note that while a demonstration can effectively showcase Masergy's features and capabilities, it does not replace the insights gained from hands-on testing where one can directly interact with the product in a real-world scenario. So, while the demonstration provided valuable information, it should be considered as part of a broader evaluation process that includes hands-on testing for a complete understanding of their SD-WAN capability.
During the demo, we noted that Masergy is well suited to organisations with global managed services requirements by supporting variety of SD-WAN and SASE products which are aimed at the mid-market. The Managed SD-WAN Secure is a fully-managed service that combines Masergy’s secure edge network with Fortinet’s edge devices, offering 100% service availability for SD-WAN sites and cloud connections configured for high availability. Where some retained control is required, there is an option for Co-Managed SD-WAN which allows self-management of configurations and policies through a client portal.
The Secure WAN “Over the top” (OTT) is an overlay solution managed through Masergy’s SD-WAN Orchestrator. where there's a requirement to deploy Masergy over a 3rd party Internet connection. Masergy’s SASE solution integrates network capabilities with security functions by supporting secure web gateway (centrally controlled and administered from the cloud).
Additionally, Masergy's SASE offering includes Hybrid Next-Gen Firewalls and Secure Web Gateway Solutions, as well as CASB Solutions for securing cloud-based applications and data.
Masergy has evolved from a provider of layer 3 Managed Global MPLS to finance and healthcare to a mid-market provider of managed service provider SD-WAN and SASE solutions. Over the years, Masergy have been noted for their high Net Promoter scorewhich highlights their excellent support. The Masergy IP backbone still remains as one of the highest performing global networks of any service provider.
In 2021, Comcast Business announced their acquisition of Masergy, to further build on managed SD-WAN, Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), Call Center as a Service (CCaaS), and Managed Security solutions.
